What is Latisse®?
Bimatoprost is a synthetic drug which mimics the effects of a naturally occurring substance called a prostaglandin, which is produced by the body.
Bimatoprost was initially marketed under the brand name Lumigan, as a treatment for glaucoma. Lumigan treatment caused an unexpected increase in eyelash growth and thickness, leading to the development and marketing of Latisse® as a treatment for inadequate eyelashes.
While the exact mechanism by which Latisse® works is still being determined, it may increase the period of time that your eyelashes spend in the growth, or anagen, phase of your eyelash hair cycle.
Order Latisse online
Latisse® is only available with a valid prescription, so you will need to discuss your eligibility for treatment with a doctor before purchasing it.
The Seven Cells platform can help you with this process, to make accessing Latisse® even easier. After answering some questions, we can put you in contact with a licensed doctor in your area. He or she will then perform an online examination and provide you with a prescription if Latisse® is a suitable treatment option for you.
How to use
Latisse® is a once daily treatment which is very easy to use, taking up only a few minutes of your day!
It is recommended that you apply Latisse® at night, shortly before you go to bed. Before applying Latisse® you should thoroughly cleanse your eyes and make sure that you are not wearing any contact lenses. Your medication will come with sterile applicator brushes, which you should use to gently apply Latisse® to the base of your upper eyelashes, where your eyelashes meet your skin. You don’t need to apply Latisse® to the lower lashes as it will naturally transfer over as you blink. You should wait for at least 15 minutes before inserting your contact lenses or applying any other eye care products.
Your lashes will grow and thicken over time, with results becoming visible after around 4 weeks and full results being achieved after 16 weeks. It is important to continue using Latisse®, otherwise your eyelashes will return to their original condition.
Your doctor will discuss your treatment carefully with you during your consultation and it is important that you follow their directions carefully to ensure your safety. A consultation with a licensed physician is essential to ensure the safety of your treatment. Latisse® may not be suitable for patients with certain eye conditions.
While you may see other eyelash growth products available over the counter, Latisse® is a prescription medication and can therefore not be purchased over the counter in the United States. If you encounter anybody selling Latisse® without a valid prescription, then they are doing so illegally.
The most common side effects associated with Latisse® treatment include: itching and redness of the eyes, skin darkening, eye irritation, dryness of the eyes and hair growth outside of the treated area. Side effects are rare and generally mild, so you should not concern yourself with them too much.
Using the sterile applicators provided with your medication, can help to minimize your risk of developing an eye infection.
Very rarely, Latisse® may cause an increased pigmentation of the iris and a change in eye colour.
